I am an EU-Citizen- why do I need an EU VAT ID to receive the full prize money?

On January 1st, 2010 the regulations of service tax within the EU were updated. Hence, services are charged with the sales tax determined by the patron's domicile. If you win prize money via jovoto Germany, we will invariably have to pay the German sales tax (19%). We need your tax identification number to be able to prove to the tax office that you are a contractor and thus refunded with the input (value added) tax.
